NEL CSU wins new contract in Suffolk

NEL CSU has won a contract to supply a Continuing Healthcare Retrospective Review Service for Ipswich and East Suffolk and West Suffolk Clinical Commissioning Groups.

The service helps CCGs address NHS Continuing Healthcare Previously Unassessed Periods of Care (PUPoC). NEL CSU already supplies this service to eight CCGs in London and Norfolk.

The service was set up in 2013 in response to the introduction of deadlines for patients, their families and representatives to request an assessment of eligibility for PUPoC. In the 2014/15 year we helped to reduce our East London CCGs’ historic claims liabilities significantly, from a potential claim cost of £18.5 million to less than £1 million through streamlining the process, assessing the caseload and processing only eligible claims.

NEL CSU’s director of strategy and business development, Anne Whateley, said: “We are delighted to have won this contract. This service has made a significant impact so far, not just for CCGs but also to all those eligible patients and their families. We look forward to working with Ipswich and East Suffolk and West Suffolk clinical commissioning groups.”
